David Hilliard, 82, a founding member of the Black Panthers, has taken a surprising stand by openly supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 election. In a recent interview with writer Carol Mitchell, Hilliard expressed his enthusiasm for Trump, highlighting a history that goes back decades.
Hilliard shared his personal connection with Trump, recalling their interactions from when Trump was a college student in New York. “I knew Trump when Trump was a college student in New York and he supported the Black Panther Party,” Hilliard reminisced. This connection forms the foundation of his support for Trump, whom he describes as a decent man who provided financial support to the Black Panther Party.
“Trump’s a friend of African Americans,” Hilliard asserted, countering the pervasive narrative pushed by the left. He emphasized that Trump is not the racist figure he’s often portrayed as. “I mean, he’s not a racist. He’s not a racist, fascist, white man. He supported Black people,” Hilliard continued, providing a stark contrast to the typical accusations from Trump’s opponents.
This endorsement comes at a time when Trump’s relationship with the black community is gaining significant attention. During the interview, Hilliard also suggested that Trump’s legal troubles are a result of his favorable stance towards black Americans. “That’s exactly right,” Hilliard said in response to whether Trump has always been part of the black community. He even suggested Trump is being persecuted because he “likes black folks.”
Trump’s growing support among the black community isn’t limited to Hilliard’s endorsement. Recently, Trump packed a park for a speech in the South Bronx, much to the chagrin of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The attendees, many of whom were black, vocally expressed their dissatisfaction with AOC and their support for Trump, signaling a significant shift in political allegiance.
Moreover, numerous black celebrities have vocalized their support for Trump, especially from the rap and hip-hop world. Artists like Sexyy Red, Azealia Banks, Kodak Black, Waka Flocka Flame, and Lil Wayne have publicly backed Trump. Even Snoop Dogg, who once criticized Trump, admitted he had “nothing but love” for him. This shift is also reflected in the words of Charlamagne tha God, a major radio personality, who has praised Trump on CNN and has refrained from endorsing Biden.
As Trump gains momentum within the black community, Team Biden appears to be in panic mode, realizing they are losing a crucial voter base. The mainstream media, long accustomed to labeling Trump’s supporters as racists, will face challenges as this narrative crumbles. This growing support from the black community could significantly impact the political landscape, making President Biden the first Democrat president in modern history to lose substantial support from black voters.
