Trump Dominates Biden in Iowa: 50-32% Lead!

Donald Trump is leading by nearly 20 points ahead of Joe Biden in Iowa, a state that once supported Obama in two elections. According to a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll, 50 percent of likely voters in Iowa back Trump for the upcoming 2024 election, while only 32 percent support Biden. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has garnered around 9 percent support, with the remaining voters split among various third-party candidates.

This poll, conducted with 632 likely Iowa voters between June 9-14, has a margin of error of 3.9 points. Notably, this comes after Trump’s conviction in New York on 34 felony counts of falsified business records. Despite this, the gap between Trump and Biden has widened, as the last Register poll had Trump leading 48 to 33 percent over Biden.

One voter, 63-year-old Donald Share from Waterloo, switched to the Republican Party because of Trump and plans to vote for him in November. “I like that he doesn’t take any guff from anybody, that he puts America first,” Share said. “We need to take care of our own before we worry about everybody else.” Share added that the conviction only strengthened his support for Trump, believing the charges to be baseless and viewing them as an effort to sideline Trump.

Trump’s supporters share this sentiment, with the campaign raising over $400 million since the court decision. Among those who support Trump in the upcoming election, 76 percent are firmly decided. Biden’s supporters are slightly more locked in, with 81 percent saying their minds are made up. However, Biden’s approval rating among those polled has declined and remains at a low 28 percent.
