Former President Donald Trump voiced his opposition to invoking the 25th Amendment against President Biden, arguing that replacing him with Vice President Kamala Harris would be an even bigger disaster. During a Thursday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Trump didn’t hold back his disdain for Harris, calling her “real garbage” and asserting she’s “worse than he is.”
Trump made his case by pointing out the limited time left in Biden’s term. “I don’t think they should use the 25th Amendment. Not long to go, you know, we have four months now and then he’s got another month and a half,” he said. Trump then shifted his focus to Harris, emphasizing the potential dangers of her taking over. “I will say this, the world is in a very dangerous place. I think if [Biden] goes, [Kamala] then takes over and she’s worse than he is. I believe she’s a San Francisco radical. I believe she’s actually much worse and a way worse candidate than he is and she’s not doing very well,” he added. When asked if America could survive a Harris presidency, Trump didn’t hesitate: “No,” he said, criticizing her as “the most radical person we’ve probably had in office.”
Reflecting on the 2020 primary debates, Trump was scathing about both Biden and Harris. “I thought he was terrible but she was terrible. She was horrible,” he remarked. Trump questioned Biden’s decision to choose Harris as his running mate, recalling her harsh treatment of Biden during the debates. “She was the meanest person up there. She was meaner to [Biden] than anybody else. She accused him of being racist with the buses,” Trump added. “Not a very good debater and nasty, just nasty to him. And when he chose her I said ‘How do you do that?’ A person treats you so badly — he was treated so badly during the debates.”
Trump also responded to Harris’s recent comment calling him a “predator” in a speech. “I think it’s disgusting,” Trump said, adding, “and I get a kick out of one thing. They say, ‘Sir, be nice. You just got hit with a bullet. Maybe he’s changed. Be nice,’ and I’d love to be nice, but I’m dealing against real garbage when you hear that.”
These comments come on the heels of accusations from Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, that the Democratic Party is orchestrating a “coup” against Biden. Vance argued on “Primetime” with Jesse Watters that if Biden isn’t fit to run for president, he shouldn’t be serving the remainder of his term. “If they want to take him down because he’s mentally incapable of serving, invoke the 25th Amendment. You don’t get to sort of do this in the most politically beneficial way for Democrats,” Vance asserted. “If it’s an actual problem, they should take care of it the appropriate way.”
