Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey (R) has taken a bold step by filing a lawsuit against the Biden-Harris administration, accusing them of transporting illegal immigrants into Missouri without transparency. Bailey announced his intention to sue President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly concealing information about flights that are bringing undocumented individuals into the state.
Back in May, Representative Mark Alford (R-MO) along with other GOP lawmakers from Missouri, wrote to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Their letter demanded detailed information about the Biden administration’s Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela (CHNV) parole program, which they believe facilitated the entry of over 400,000 illegal immigrants into the United States since January 2023.
Bailey didn’t hold back in criticizing Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas for his welcoming stance towards illegal immigrants. He pointed out a troubling case where a Venezuelan, who had bypassed U.S. immigration laws and received a work permit under the Biden-Harris parole policy, was involved in a violent crime. This individual is now accused of murdering a college student named Laken Hope Riley in Georgia in February.
The Attorney General’s criticism goes beyond just one case; he highlighted the broader implications of illegal immigrants overwhelming social services in major U.S. cities and contributing to crime rates. Bailey accused Mayor Lucas of essentially inviting illegal immigrants to Missouri, a stance Lucas initially supported with his statement, “All are welcome in Kansas City.” However, Lucas has since backtracked, claiming his welcoming message was intended only for individuals lawfully present with valid work permits.
Bailey’s lawsuit underscores a growing frustration among conservatives regarding the federal government’s handling of immigration and the perceived lack of transparency and accountability. The Missouri Attorney General is clearly positioning himself as a staunch defender of state rights and public safety, challenging what he sees as reckless and irresponsible policies from the Biden-Harris administration.
