Trump’s New Border Czar Lights Up ‘The View’ Over Lies About Deportation

The folks over at “The View” had a collective meltdown, predictably horrified by President-elect Donald Trump’s appointment of Tom Homan as the new “border czar.” The daily ABC gab-fest has been a bundle of nerves ever since Trump clinched the election, and Homan’s appointment to tackle the border crisis had the show’s left-leaning panel on the verge of a panic attack.

Ana Navarro, always ready to stir the pot, took major offense at a comment from Homan about families potentially being deported together. When Homan addressed illegal immigrant families being “separated,” Navarro went off the rails, leaping to the wild conclusion that Homan somehow meant U.S. citizens would be deported along with them—a bit of a reach, especially since deporting U.S. citizens would be, well, illegal.

According to Navarro’s take, Homan’s remarks apparently signaled that if an undocumented parent had a U.S. citizen child or spouse, they’d just be packed up and shipped out together. The idea, however, seems rooted more in Navarro’s imagination than in any actual policy. But nuance isn’t a strong suit for “The View,” it seems.

Homan, of course, didn’t waste a second setting the record straight. Appearing later on Fox News, he couldn’t help but chuckle at the suggestion that he’d be rounding up American citizens. In classic Homan fashion, he dismissed “The View” hosts as clueless, likening them to “an island of misfit toys” who don’t have a clue about what they’re discussing. The former ICE chief pointed out that his priority remains clear: threats to public safety and national security take precedence, and if you’re here illegally, don’t get too cozy.

In no uncertain terms, Homan outlined the reality of his stance—if you’re in the country illegally, you won’t be resting easy under his watch. And that, according to Homan and Trump, is precisely the point. If you’re breaking the law, there’s no reason to expect a warm welcome or a sense of comfort, much less citizenship rights.
